    You’ll be sick of McD if you eat their food elsewhere, outside India.

    Oh the Indian vision of what a burger should taste like is wonderful. It should be tried at least once.

    I could be wrong but didn’t KFC take a lot of casualties? Every person I know that had something from KFC also had to suffer from severe diaraoeHA.

    Finally eh? Remember how we queued up at the McD in Hyderabad? Desperate times.

    Well, now that this tourist attraction is added, I’ll have to come and visit :)

  7. January 24, 2008 at 14:22

    How sad for you. I’ll be traveling to Chennai in a couple of months and you won’t find me eating there.

    @Senthil

    They shud change the name to McShit coz in Indian version of McDonalds they don’t serve Beef Burgers, Chicken Nuggets, which r the two main dishes of Mickey D’s Instead they got Stupid McMaharaja Meal which shud be McBlowme meal. We rather not have this Indian version of Mcdonalds .

    @ Paris
    I felt disappointed at the Menu at first too. But looking at the business side of i t.. it makes total sense

  13. March 23, 2008 at 15:54

    @Paris
    A beef burger won’t go well with the Hindutva mentality in India since Cow is considered holy here.

    And yeah if I am right there was a big ruckus about this some 6 years or so ago in one of the Vadodara outlets of McD.

    But I must say a McD opening in Chennai is a good thing. I hope in some way or the other City’s conservative image should go down. This is one of the reason McD is said to have cited for not coming to chennai in their 12 year term in India.

    How sad, the whole world thinks McDonalds is the pits in terms of food quality, nutrition etc., and here are silly Indians lining up for such awful food when there is such a diversity of good food in India

    The reason the didnt come to chennai earlier was they were challenged by the other fast food joints, like saravana bhavan,etc and their market survey showed a failure if launched…. Yes, it is JUNK food !!!

    Chennai has only 1 Mcdonalds.Its just totally ridiculous.Mumbai hasover 35.Bengaluru has like 7 and even Hyd 4.Chennai would well do with atleast 5,6 esp in areas like Nungambakkam,T.Nagar,Anna Nagar,Besant Nagar etc.

  18. May 5, 2008 at 13:46

    @Adams

    It sure is ridiculous but hopefully they will expand.

    I want the mouthwatering Big Mac, Big Tasty, Royal Deluxe and Royal Cheese (all with beef!) when I come back to Chennai. What Mc Donald’s without beef!

    If it is junk food so be it. You have the choice of NOT going. To the fraternity which WANTS to eat Mc D stuff, let them. Why the ruckus. It would this conservative metro some good. Hardly anywhere to go. Agreed they’re crap abroad. But we’ve got to start somewhere in food retail market in the international sense.

    Comparing McD with MryBrn, former appears to be better. We loved tasting it in Chennai in Anna Nagar first time. Of course Veg Salad Burger is much to be desired.
